Tecumseh repair manual and engine operation

Before start of four cycle Tecumseh engine check up an oil level in an engine crankcase: - for engines with an oil-depth gauge the oil level should be between marks "ADD" and "FULL"; - for engines without an oil-depth gauge the oil level should correspond the top edge of a cut in oil-aspic a bore; - if necessary add the recommended oil. Check up fuel presence in a fuel tank. In the presence of the fuel crane, turn it in position "ON".

If the engine carburettor is equipped by the pumping button, press three times with an interval in two seconds between each pressing. At low temperatures of air (more low +7) press five times. If the engine carburettor is equipped by an air shutter "CHOKE", establish it in position "FULL CHOKE". At start of the warm engine after its short-term stop do not use the button of pumping or an air shutter "CHOKE". Establish an operating lever turns on the engine or an equipment remote control in position "RUN".

At use of a manual starter, smoothly pull the handle of a starter till the moment of occurrence of resistance from the engine. And then sharply pull the starter handle on a full wave of a hand. Do not throw the starter handle. Smoothly release the handle of a starter with a tension of a cord for its uniform winding on a starter pulley.

At use of an electric starter, turn the ignition key or press button "START". Do not use for a starting engine operation an electric starter more than five seconds. After a starting engine operation turn the ignition key in a home position or release button "START". At steady work of the engine move an air shutter "CHOKE" to position "1/2 CHOKE". At definitive warming up of the engine move an air shutter to position "NO CHOKE".
