Chevrolet Captiva

The Captiva is an all-terrain light Chevrolet especially oriented to the European market. It is basically the same car to the Opel Antara, but unlike it, can have up to seven seats. Additionally, you can choose front-wheel drive or full.

Is for sale from € 24,050, with four different levels of equipment: "LS", "LT", "LTX" and "Sport". Not all the engines, equipment levels, the number of seats and traction rates are combinable with one another (price, information and equipment across the range Captiva).

A version 'Sport' which is only available with the 2.0 VCDi diesel engine of 150 hp and automatic. This version is for sale for € 38,180.

The Captiva 'Sport' has some changes in appearance compared to other versions. Take chrome inserts in the front fog lamps, on the grill, the exterior door handles and pilots. Furthermore, the lower front grille and the exhaust have a different design. Finally, the headlights are brown and the roof bars are painted aluminum color.

This version can be purchased only with the body painted in black color. The side moldings, bumpers and the protector of a wheel are painted in black satin.

On the inside there are also changes: a two tone leather seats (with the center in red, like the seam), and carbon inserts simile electric sunroof (optional on versions "LTX" by 1020 €).

The Captiva measures 4635 mm long, 1850 mm wide and 1720 mm high. Is longer than a BMW X3 and smaller than a Toyota Land Cruiser. The wheelbase is 2705 mm.

All engines are placed in transverse position. The petrol is a four-cylinder 2.4-liter displacement and 136 hp of maximum power (associated with a manual five-speed box) and a six-cylinder 3.2-liter V 230 hp (combined with an automatic box five-speed).

2.0 l diesel engines of 126 hp and 150 hp are not original Fiat, like other diesel engines that General Motors used in other brands of the group (Opel and Saab), but new engines are (more details). VCDi version 2.0 of 150 hp is recommended for travel to a rhythm, since it is very noisy and its consumption is normal. The Chevrolet Captiva is the first that has a diesel engine.

The average consumption of the approved version 2.0 Diesel VCDI 150 hp is 7.4 l/100 km. Consumption is rather low for an SUV of its size, weight and power. The performance figures are normal reaches 186 km / h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 10.6 s.

There are several all-terrain of similar size, with a diesel engine of similar power, which have a lower selling price. A Ssangyong Kyron (from € 24,000) and Honda CR-V (from € 27,400) are less expensive, but none of them can have seven seats.

The models themselves can have seven seats have a higher sales price, such as a Mitsubishi Montero (from € 33,915), a Hyundai Santa Fe (from € 32,000) or a Ssangyong Rexton (from € 32,090).

A version with 2.0 liter engine derived from the 150 hp turbo has reduced input sets and its maximum power to 126 hp. These diesel engines are used in other models of Chevrolet.

The most powerful diesel version can be purchased with a manual gearbox or a five-speed automatic, also of five marches. Diesel less powerful can not automatic, which seems entirely suitable for this car (unless someone intends to use "sport"), although not fast or you can select gears manually. The manual is vague.

Less powerful versions (2.0 VCDi Diesel 127 hp and 136 hp 2.0 petrol) are only available with front-wheel drive.

Other versions have a total drive system automatically connect with an electromagnetic control that determines the degree of entrainment of the rear wheels. Under normal conditions acts as a front-wheel drive, if the front wheels slipping, the rear can drive the car.

The major limitations of off-road Captiva are low height above ground, a little suspension travel (compared to a true all-terrain) and that the drive system has no blocking (more information on driving field).

You can have five or seven seats. With the configuration of five not out for the space in the rear seats because it has fewer than most site for the legs. With the seven, can accommodate two adults (unless they are larger than 1.80 m) with a height to the ceiling and a large space for the legs that is not the smallest.

According to Chevrolet, the boot has a volume of 85 liters in configuration of seven seats and 465 liters in the five-seat configuration. The rear opening has no relationship to the gate (picture), which adds more functionality.

Among the items of equipment you have (standard or optional) are front airbags, side and head (curtain type), leather upholstery, Self suspension, air conditioning, auto dimming interior mirror, automatic lights and wipers, eight speakers , charger for six discs, MP3 player, trip computer and steering wheel leather.

It is the first vehicle in the range of Chevrolet Europe with stability control (ESP) as standard, except in the basic version. Among other functions, the "ESP" includes a program to limit the risk of overturning (ARP) and downhill slope control (HDC).

The frame is a monocoque. The suspension is independent in the two axes, the McPherson-type front and deformable parallelogram with four arms in the rear of the seven-seat versions have a rear shock absorbers that keep the soil at constant height regardless of load carrying. It has ventilated discs at all four wheels. The tires are available throughout the Captiva range from those less powerful version fitted (215/70 R16), which mounts to the most powerful version equipped (235/55 R18).
