KIA Opirus Review

After the summer, will be on sale a KIA Opirus renewed with some changes to the exterior design of the bodywork, interior, equipment, suspension and engine, which is now more powerful.

According to Kia, the new Opirus is a few inches long (the previous measures 4,98 m) and width of roads has increased 1.5 cm and 2 cm behind the front. It is lighter (122 kg less) and your engine consumes less (so that their autonomy is greater).

External developments are mainly in the posterior: the trunk lid and drivers are completely different (pictures of the previous and new). The front bumper and chrome grille has been slightly redesigned. The front intermittent light-emitting diodes remain (LED) and are placed in the lower bumper (pictured).

The alloy wheels are now 17 inches and have a new design, the tires are 235/55 R17 measure. There are five exterior colors for the body that were previously unavailable.

Inside there are changes. According to KIA, the console has been completely redesigned. In addition, there are more colors to choose from for the leather upholstery. The increase in length has been an increase of 10 l in volume of the trunk.

Among the items of equipment are airbags (now larger), stability control, leather upholstery, heated front seats with heating and ventilation, driver seat power lumbar adjustment, adjustable pedals and a trip computer enhanced.

The new Opirus remains a front-wheel drive and has a gasoline engine much more powerful. It is a V6 with 3.8-liter engine capacity, reaching a maximum power of 266 hp at 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 350 Nm at 4,500 rpm. It is made of aluminum and weighs less than the previous Opirus, which was made of iron. This engine is matched to a five-speed automatic gearbox.

The Opirus 3.8 V6 has a top speed of 230 km / h (10 km / h more), accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.5 seconds (1.7 s less) and has a combined cycle consumption of 10 , 9 liters per 100 km (0.5 l less).

The maximum speed is lower than with most models of this size and power, while consumption is high. The acceleration is normal (comparative table of performance and fuel consumption).

The front suspension is basically the same as the previous Opirus (independent by parallelogram), but with some modifications. Change the lower triangle, the position of the rack and wheel alignment. The back itself is different: one side has separate springs and dampers on the other, the upper joining element is different for stealing less space to boot.
